The Uninvited Invitation

The Uninvited Invitation

Delivered at our doorstep,
Lacking an inscription,
Brought by an undesirable guest
The uninvited invitation.

Dear to none,
Rare to none,
The commonest archetype
Of humankind and the like.

Inevitable as nothing,
Impossible to hide
From its panopticon eye,
We try to delay it's arrival.

Some embrace, others repel.
Both not out of love,
But out of fear
Of mysteries ahead.

The uninvited invitation reads
The paradox of nature,
"Mortality has eternity."
